Vase mode is a special method of 3D printing, instead of printing the model layer by layer, vase mode uses a continuous string of melted filament to print the object.

In order for vase mode to work properly the design should only have one exterior wall.

Note: There are techniques for getting around the single wall limitation by having very tiny gaps in your model so that the filament will fuse over those gaps, but that will be another topic for another day!

Complex shapes can be created, and another advantage is print time is signifcantly reduced.

These little planters were printed in around 30 minutes. I used a 1mm nozzle since it was only one wall thick, and they are quite sturdy!

In Cura this settings is called “Spiralize Outer Contour”
