Obstacles to Utilization

We’ve had tons of interest but very few people utilize our MakerSpace at the Blue ridge community center.

What are some obstacles to your utilization of this space?

Time? Don’t have the time or the times we are open don’t line up with your schedule? We are considering reevaluating our open hours! So please give us your feedback! Also, just call us, we may have a time that works for you.

Intimidation? Does powering up a laser that can cut through 1/2″ plywood intimidating??? We walk you through every step of the process and help with the design, setup, and execution of your project. And so far no one has lost any limbs!

Also, laser engraving isn’t all we do, we also do 3D printing, vinyl cutting, and have supplies for all kinds of arts and crafts!

Money? The space is free for anyone to come in, we teach you how to use the machines and walk you through making your first project which is also free…within reason!

a 3D printed gold Archaeopteryx is probably not within reason! 🙂

We charge for private groups, hosted classes, materials, design services, and ongoing use of the equipment (see rates on our scheduling page) . We are also open to bartering goods and services.

This beautiful ironwood guitar holder was made by one of our clients, and bartered for some engraving work.

Unsure what to make? Just bring an idea, we can take just about any idea and turn it into something.

Signage? Have you shown up to the Blue Ridge community center and weren’t sure where to go, or if we were even open or not? It is a large facility and we are working on helping to create better signage. We are located on the Holland Ave side of the building up the stairs at entrance #22. Call us or ring the doorbell when you get there so we can show you to our space!

We look forward to your feedback and hope to make this space something beneficial to the community!
